Presentation by Arch. Steve Oundo, President, Commonwealth Association of Architects
This week, the Department of Architecture at the University of Nairobi has the pleasure of
hosting CAA President, Arch. Steven Oundo.
Having been part of the pioneer 6-year B.Arch class, he graduated with Bachelor of
Architecture from the University of Nairobi in 1997. He then worked as a graduate architect
at Free Mark Company, after successfully pitching to them his final year project (a state-of-
the-art trade exhibition centre). He worked with them over the next 8 months, and during this
time, he developed proposals on low cost housing using fabricated panel houses.
Steven joined Trioscape Architects as an assistant architect in late 1997. By 1999, he had sat
for his professional exams with BORAQS, and was registered as an architect in 2000. That
same year, Arch. Steven became a partner at Trioscape and then a director later in 2005 when
Trioscape became a limited company.
Over the years, Arch. Oundo has served in various capacities in the AAK, BORAQS, EAIA,
AUA, APSEA, CIArb and NCA, with the latest being his appointment as CAA President.
Renowned for his passionate pursuit of social good and championing for the people’s agenda,
he has leveraged his social capital and networking skills to effect change in every role he has
undertaken.
When he isn’t out transforming the built environment landscape, he’s a devoted father of five
and an avid fitness enthusiast.
