ELDORET TEXTILE FASHION CENTRE

INTRO

The proposed textile fashion centre is a one-stop
facility that shall focus on value adddition of textiles
and showcasing of completed works to the general
public.
The inspiration for the fashion and texlie centre came
from Rivatex factory's potential for revitalisation,
while at the same time creating a centre of
excellence that would pull together the many strands
of Kenya’s textile industry to create a powerful unified
global player.
The vision involves a Textile Fashion Centre bringing
together people and organizations from design and
business - a creative mix of a worksop,designers'
studios,clothes botiques,an exhibition hall, cafes and
catwalks, complemented by supplimental
commercial activities.

THE CLIENT

The client, National Youth Service has many aims which are inline with the provision
of training and employment opportunities for the youth. The project is intended to
be in line with Vision 2030 goals and the county development strategies whereby
the county intends to promote education ,employment opportunitiy and economic
elevation within the region.
The textile workshops would impact skills to these youths to enable them be self
sustainable and elevate their economical standards .
Within the centre workshops are display spaces where visitors and the students
interract, showcase their skills and even trade their products, generating income in
the process.
To sustain itself, the project is intened to have a Private- Public Initiative (PPI) where
most of the spaces are rented out to businesses and others on a lease schedule
where private investors could rent the spaces and conduct their businesses and in
doing so provide income to sustain the public sector of the development which is
free.
The rentable spaces include the commercial zone,Botique Shops ,Exhibition hall,
Boardrooms and Meeting rooms, a Cuisine Restaurant and a runway . Also the
workshop provide a supporting role for the venue with the workshop being used as
set design area.
The National youth service training in various feilds among them is Clothing and
Design which include Diploma in Clothing Technology (Clothing Technology)
Tailoring & Dress Making Currently the course is offered only in the training school in
Gilgil
