Kariokor Art and Craft Centre - Nairobi

Kariokor market located in Nairobi's Eastlands is the Nairobi's leading art and craft market in the city according to the ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise
development. The name Kariokor is derived from the carrier corps who were stationed at the area where the market stands during the colonial period. It's managed by the
Nairobi City County government under the department of markets.

The market consists of an open air informal market and the closed market part all dealing with the same products. The activities of the market make it even more than a
market but a centre for art and craft as they products sold are produced in the market. The products made and sold in the market include; leather products such as sandals,
shoes and belts, akala sandals made using used tyres, baskets, wood sculptures, sisal ropes,and beadworks.
