THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER- INTERIOR DESIGN, Kioko SM

The proposed Built Environment Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
Seeks to provide comfortable spaces to meet the brief through sustainable
design which considers the site conditions through minimal site disturbance
and cost reduction by using :natural lighting throughout the day, cross ventillation
and sunshading

DESIGN
-Used central circulation with
all activities happening around
the courtyards
-They create quality views and
improve the quality of the space
-Panaromic elevators are used
to allow views into the courtyard
-The 'central space' that is the stairwell
acts as a thermal chimney expelling
hot air
DESIGN PRINCIPLEs
symmetry(plans)
balance
hierachy(floor levels)
-The design has both horizontal
and verticle sunshading to cover
the largely glazed areas
-The Eastern and Western sides
walls are staggered for sunshading
-use of smaller fenestrations on the
Eastern and Western facades
