WORKING DRAWINGS

CIVIL WORKS
1. All slabs at ground level to be poured over 1000 gauge polyethene sheeting on
50-75mm coral screed on 50-100mm hardcore(coral rag base).
2. All soils under slab to be treated for termite control.
3. All soils on cut embarkments to be stabilised. The slope should not exceed the
natural angle of repose.
STRUCTURAL WORKS
1. Depth of foundation to be determined on site to S.E's approval.
2. For all Coral aggregate reinforcement works refer to Structural Engineers details.
3. All adjacent Coral aggregate reinforcement works and masonry walls to be tied
with strap wrought iron at every course.
4. All walls less than 200mm thick to be reinforced with hoop wrought iron at every
alternate course.
MECHANICAL.
1.All plumbing and drainage to comply with Malindi County Council
specifications.
2.All service ducts to be accessible from all floors.
3. SVP denotes soil vent pipe to be provided at the head of drainage.
4. Drains passing beneath buildings and walkways to be encased in 150mm
concrete surround.
5. All underground foul and waste drain pipes to be class 41 golden brown PVC
pipe
6. Minimum slope in the drain to be 1%
7. All mechanical work must be coordinated with electrical and any conflicts be
clarified before work begins.
ELECTRICAL
1. All conduits must be laid before plastering.
FINISHES SCHEDULE.
1.FLOOR FINISHES.
a. 200mm thick coral aggregate slab to SE's details treated with hardener/sealer,
laidto falls with a ribbed finish.
b. 6 mm thick polished terrazzo laid on lime mortar screed,50% chops, with
25x3mm dividing strips set off to architects approval.
Total floor slab thickness=200mm.
c. 400mmx200mmx30mm granito tiles on 1:4 mortar mix, laid on lime mortar
screed.
Total floor slab thickness=200mm.
d. 300x300 x10mm thick glazed ceramic tiles
e. Approved 200*65*20mm mahogany parquet flooring in approved pattern laid
with adhesive on 20mm 1:4 lime sand screed.
f. 20mm thick random cut mazeras stone on lime mortar screed
g. 40mm screed smooth finish.
2.WALL FINISHES.
a. 12mm thick lime wash coat on lime plaster, treated with water proofing
admixture. Coats applied to manufacturers' specifications.
b. Moulded mahogany timber railing above coral stone walling 1000mm from
finished floor level
c. Exposed random cut coral stone
d. 300mmx300mmx20mm thick glazed ceramic tiles 1200mm high with 100mm
straight continuous joints in both directions fixed with adhesive on rendered
background with grouting to approval.
e. Coral lime plaster finish containing egg white (2 to 3 coats)
f. Emulsion paint.
g. Moulded mahogany timber railing 1200mm high.
3.SKIRTING FINISHES
a. 300mmx100mm thick ceramic tiles.
b. 10mm Lime mortar on 25mm thick lime mortar screed.
c. 150mm high polished in-situ terrazzo
d. 150mmx25mm thick Mangrove nailed on wall.
e. 100mmx25mm dressed coral stone tiles
f. Random cut and stacked mazeras stones.
4.CEILING FINISH
a. 9mm first coat 1:4 lime/sand screed and 3mm second coat of lime plaster,
smooth trowelled on structural slab.
b. Painted waterproofed rough cast lime finish
c. Mahogany timber strips T&G
d. Emulsion paint.
e. 25mm thick suspended gypsum ceiling board and plaster on lime soffit
