PROJECT 02/05: TOURIST TERMINAL/INFORMATION CENTRE

TOURIST TERMINAL/INFORMATION CENTRE

The first floor will receive mostly tourist traffic as
the booking offices for several services are located
here. The offices are open floor plan in layout to
maximize cross ventilation within the offices.

The second floor is a shopping
arcade with a variety of shops
each that can be designed to
suit its individual needs. The
doors used allow for complete
porisity and cross ventilation
when the shops are in use but
they can also be closed off
individually for security purposes.

The site is located on a beach front property with a residential building and Jamia
mosque being its imediate neighbours. The location on the beach front has allowed for
creation of a jetty which also had a heliport. Access into the site, both pedestrian and
vehicular is limited to the main street for control of persons who access the
development

The third floor is exclsively accomodation for the hotel rooms which are penthouses as compared to the
othe rooms. Location of the rooms at the beach front was to maximise on the ocean views. Every single
room enjoys uninterupted views of the ocean and particularly of the typical morning sunrise over the ocean.
The commercial wing of the Tourist terminal centre is roofed by 22.5 degree pitched clay tile roofs, which
are most sustainable than the typical local makuti roofing. Parapet walls are however used on this wing to
bring the desired visual effect.
