THE PROTESTANT MOVEMENT AND ITS INFLUENCE IN THE NATURE OF WORSHIP SPACES IN MODERN TIMES

The study entitled “The protestant movement and its influence in the nature of worship spaces in modern
times” has been undertaken to investigate the current increase in the number of protestant churches that
adopt a variety of spaces for worship and the influence these spaces have on the worship experience.
Farther, the study tries to capture the spirit of the church in the past and its mission at the time and
whether that is the same ideal upon which the protestant churches of modern times are based.
The church of today has embraced other functions apart from spreading the word which support or
enhance their core function of evangelizing the word.
The fieldwork undertaken in this study clearly demonstrates the perception that the passersby and the
congregation have of the contemporary church. Although the religious beliefs of individuals may differ
from one to another, the elements that make church architecture unique are shared universally. It is with
this note that the study takes off and culminates in an understanding of the role of the protestant church
in these modern times.
